Beyond the Horizon

Ancient mariners thought the world was flat, and that when you sailed past the horizon you would fall over the edge. The edge of their view, the horizon, was believed to be the edge of the world; the edge of safe sailing, the end of the world…and the end of life itself for the seamen who sailed too far.

But we know that that belief is wrong, that indeed the world is round, and that a long journey into the horizon unknown means not a fall off the edge and the end, but a chance to sail all the way around to where you came from, and do it all over again.

The unknown horizon is not the end; it is the segue to the next step, or the new beginning.

Just remember to bring a raincoat. You never know how wet it’ll get the second time around.
